Hi William!
Thanks for your hard work to support our old devices and making it still possible to use them.
I've just updated the device firmware to 2.0.0.23 (KW-1004 Watson model i.e. IPMicro). Unfortunately it seems that still ShoutCast is not working. It gives Service Not Available message. Is there a way to route all of those requests still going via shutted down Penbex server directly to the shoutchast servers? Or route them via yours?
Also I'm interested how it could be possible to add browsing by Genre in the World Station? The same way as on the homepage here? This is very important and will be awesome feature, since there are thousand stations available and browsing them via Countries is not a good solution.
How can I see only my favorites on the radio list? And not the whole user base (as I need to scroll down a lot and it is so slow on the device to do that).
Thanks again for your support! Really appreciate it.

The KW-1004 should be used with the modified firmware 2.0.0.18. Then it is fine. The only thing that does not work is shoutcast and searching via Genre. This is due to the fact that the Penbex server is dead now. I will have fixes for this soon.

running KW-1004-2.0.0.18 on my Neon. followed the settings on the home page and still getting an ugly Service Not Available ...
I'm therefore unable to update some of my favorites that recently changed their URL.
is the service working for you guys ?

You're right, I shouldn't do it. But then again, there was no explanation why I shouldn't do it, so I did it out of the curiosity. After loading back the original firmware (MPMAN-1.0.3.42), consequences are as follows: - rotated and shifted display, - soft keys on the device not working. Nevertheless, remote control is working again.
Since this model (MPMAN MIR-5000) has only soft keys on the front panel, it is impossible to put it in "USB Upgrade" mode by holding "UP" key and switching the device on, as described here: http://www.listenlive.nl/board/message.php?id=55. But as I found out experimenting with it, it can be done anyway, by connecting pin 7 of J10 connector on Penbex mainboard to ground through 27 kOhm resistor and then switching the device on. This procedure should also work on any Penbex device with soft keys. See following pictures how to do it: I hope someone will find that info useful. Hello, I am new to this forum, to which I stumbled upon while searching for MpMan MIR-5000 firmware. Unfortunately I flashed the device with KW-1004-colilo bootloader and then with KW-1004-2.0.0.18 firmware. After first step I was left with 180 deg. rotated and 4 pixels shifted-to-the-left display, and after second step I was left with device which started already (rotated display remained), but was inoperable - it responded neither to remote control nor to soft keys on the device itself. After doing some research I found out how to put the device in "USB Upgrade" mode, so I managed to load original firmware back to the device (thanks to files I found here) making it operable again, but display is still rotated. So some help would be appreciated, especially if there exists some other bootloader apart from the one I used. Regards, Tomaz.

1.0.3.68 is the 1.0.3.62 version with the server patch so that it works with our database. There are no other changes. So whatever was working or was bugged the .62 is the same in .68 The latest firmware i am working on now is 2.0.0.23. Time is very limited at the moment though.

Hello,
I see there are several "dnt IP Micro" users in this forum. Can anyone tell me what modified firmware you used ?
what I did until now: I had the Kw-1004-ipmicro-1.0.3.68, it worked (updated my device with a USB stick) but had some flaws so I had to stop using it. I tried the Kw-1004-2.0.0.18, it did not work (updated my device with a USB stick), so I had to upload back the original Penbex config.
1.0.3.68 is a bit too outdated, did someone manage to run the "dnt IP Micro" with a more recent modified software ? if yes, did you use a A-cable to upload the firmware ?
regards, Marel

There is no newer firmware for the Akira than what is online. Also, there will never be any newer firmwares for any of the Penbex radios as Penbex wents bankrupt. Holidays are over and I am back in action. I am cleaning up the images and will release firmwares for all possible devices so that they are working with our database.

Little question: the firmware is a new version of the firmware (for all penbex model) OR is a new firmware for new penbex models? for example...i have akira stereo...i use 2.0.0.18 fw...you are testing a new fw than 2.0.0.18? or the new firmware is for new penbex models? thanks in case of new fw for my akira...i'm a good beta tester

Hi,
I can test the new firmware on my IPmicro.
May be, I am even able to analyse/fix some problems for this device.
Thanks for your work on the firmware.

Loading a new firmware can go bad. However, this is no real problem since in general the Penbex devices have a godo recovery option. All you need is a Windows PC and a USB cable with on both sides the same USB-A plug (Every USB stick has this connector as this is the actual plug you stick in PC's) Such a cable should cost less than 5 euros. Using such a cable you can attach the Penbex based device to a PC which will then recognize it as a USB flash drive. Copy the firmware onto it and eject the device.
Anyway, since I do not have access to each and every Penbex model I am looking for persons that are comfortable with testing the new firmwares. Respond to this thread with your device model and I will supply you with a firmware update to test.
Will I be able to try it on my Cobra Internet Radio that has the USA firmware version?
