I had the same problem as the OP. What helped for me was putting the loader-update on the SD-card and re-update it from the loader-menu (black screen with white text, option 1). Although it seemed funny to my to let the loader update itself, it helped. The device now boots up normally into the pictogram-menu without a SD-card inserted. I also am a new user, with no former loader or firmware from ListenLive.nl, so maybe that´s where the problem lies, but I´m no expert.

Same device, same problem (but up to now I thought it would be a feature, not a bug ): it isn´t recognized as a flash drive anymore and there is no access to it via USB. Another problem with the media player is that if there is NO SD card inserted, the internal memory is displayed as such and the flash memory appears empty. If there is an SD card in the slot, its contents are shown and there is NO flash memory. Samba and UPnP work fine so far...

I agree the original firmware is not much fun. Also the Chinese database with stations is pretty poor. Thats why I started this project.
I know our database is not perfect either but at least every user can add/modify whatever they wish while the Chinese server does not give us any control.
Besides our own database there are now external databases as well (Tunein in 1.43 and more coming in 1.44)

No problem, you can ask all you want. We are not as strict as some other forums where you have to post in the right sections and are not allow to ask a question that was already asked etc.
The correct way should be the following:
- put the listenlive loader in internal memory for older original firmwares that do not support SD or put the loader on a SD for newer original firmwares that do support SD cards.
  the loader has to match the model you are updating. So here you have to pick the right loader file, a loader file is around 3 megabytes.
- perform the update via the original firmware update function
- reboot, after reboot the device should show the loader screen with a number of options
- insert a SD card with the listenlive firmware. the listenlive firmware is the same for all models..
  It is able to see hardware differences etc. the firmware is around 26 megabyte. A significant difference in size.
- choose option 1 from the loader menu. This option will flash the device with the listenlive firmware.
- Remove the SD card and reboot the device.
- Now it should boot into the LL firmware.

Note: If you need to go back to the loader you power up the device with an SD card inserted that has a file called "fs_fwrec" on it.
Only the file name is checked to trigger the loader. The file contents are never read. So it does not matter how you produce this file as long as the name is correct.

You should have access to the internal memory as a flash drive when you have the device connected to USB.
There are also other options available including accessing the internal memory via samba protocol, ftp, ssh... (although only samba is tested extensively here)

Yes, this is already possible. Use the "last played music" for this. This can be any kind of stream from an internet station or local/network music file.

Yes, it is high on my list to make a manual. I hope I have some time to make something soon. 
Nothing wrong with your English and even if there was we dont really care. If someone wants to learn perfect English or any other language then there are other places for that
Your english is better than my swiss german (I've been in CH for a while)
Btw, if you want Swiss German language support it can easily be added. Also if you have language file improvents these are welcome. There are threads with the language file contents to wich you can reply. I then add the updates to the server and these then are directly available on the device by re-selecting the language.

I bought a Pearl Kmp510.4.0 Rm003 3 weeks ago. Disappointed of the built in software I did a little research and found this page. Updated to 1.43 - fine.

But - there are still a few questions. I read the forum and didn't find the answers there, but maybe I overread something

As I really appreciate your work and I spent $100 for a product with poor funktions, I donated your effort to make this thing doing what I want .
I like to ask the other usere to do the same, as I know, it is not only your time, but also some financial effort for you to do a project like this.

I know - you have been asked for several times - a manual would be helpful. Maybe it can be done by the community in a shared document, also.
