I've sent the seller a email asking to return the unit, hopefully the replacement (Yes I marked the battery bay to check on them) operates normally and lets me upgrade via USB.

Well, we know for sure that it even matters how you "eject" the device. eject on taskbar does not work the same as the eject via the "my computer" properties.
I have one case where someone changed the USB cable to fix some issues similar to this.
There is an alternative way I think. But I have to check how to proceed. This would be through the online update. (obviously the device is not connected via USB then) The online update looks at an URL, this is the manufacturers URL but it might be possible to reroute this check to the listenlive server via a proxy.. At the server side I can then put the update files.. the device downloads them and installs. I have done online firmware updates for the early patched firmwares. So for the server it is no problem. We just would have to figure out how to redirect http://www.iradio168.com to the listenlive server... ~William

Tried two xp machines, no luck. and i doubt thats the issue as many peoplehave moved onto win7 now. The unit is faulty, is there a way to force th update from the SD card, it appears to be reading the card ok. if not ill have to send this one back for replacement, and i dont wat to do this.

Thanks. This seems a bit extreme, all my PCs are Win7 x64. Ill create a duel boot on an old system and try that first. Will I have to continue using the XP machine to connect with the radio once the Listen Live fimware is installed

Try using a windows XP machine.. Newer windows versions sometimes have security too tight or so. Linux most likely gives problems recognizing the device as a memory stick..

I have a brand new Otek KMP510 with firmware 1.7 installed. As expected there is no install option via SD card, but It is also not appearing on the PC as a removable device so I cannot install the loader. Ive tried 3 PC's, tried with the unit on, off, even tried using the Update Firmware/From Internal Memory option, that reports back CONNECTED TO PC. So the radio can see the PC, but the PC isn't seeing the radio. Is the unit faulty, do I send it back and ask for a replacement? A little help please
Thanks all. Kym
