Not sure if that is possible.

34117 Kassel I try to put som podcast stations in my radio. What must I do to use the normal rss feed adress like ( http://www.swr3.de/export/podcast/SWR3-Gag-des-Tages/-/id=279178/did=447024/dpsic8/index.xml )  to use with my ODYS inetbox and my Watson CO 1790MUI

Hi Penbex,

Thanks for responding to me. When my radio arrives, I will install the modified firmware, it seems like the way to go as far as

getting the most out of the radio. Thanks for adding WFAN. Im not sure if you can do this, but there are services like Reciva, Vtuner, ect

that have a lot of stations, maybe you can use their database?

I have one other thing, I have several Grace Radios and while they are good, they took off some content called Iheartradio, is it possible to

include it on this radio?  It kind of goes back to my question about AAC streams, that service primarily has broadcasts which use that format.

By the way, this is the radio I am getting  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cobra-Internet-Radio-CIR2000A-FREE-SHIPPING-/120731805034?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c1c2d256a

I just did a little research and this radio was formerly the Snooper CIR2000 before Cobra bought them out. Im not sure which modified firmware file I should use on it though.

Hi ZUCK02

Were you able to updae the firmware of the cir2000A?

If you were, can you tell me what firmware did you use?

Thanks

Hello William

My wish list is to be able to connect with my Cobra CIR 2000 a to your site because right now I am limited to what penbex is set to, and to be able to load the europian version  in order to be able to move my tuner in steps of 50 KHz. (Right now I am limited to steps of 200 KHz because I have the USA firmware version)

oh, ok, i will see to get this to the right place...

hm, the arnova could never play internetradiostreams as alarm sounds...  in this setting there was always played a standart sound at the alarmmoment...
and so it is by now with the new firmware 1.43... setting "last played" and a stream was last played, it comes a standart sound for wake up... even by "fm radio" setting or birdsound mp3 for example... always comes the standard wakeupsound...

the repeat button: when i open a podcast which contains ten or more comedyparts for example, the first part will always be repeated... i can`t turn it of with the remote... i have to stop it and select the next track from upper menue of this artist... at the same podcast

I don`t know if this is the right forum, for my arnova ;

Yeah, wrong forum. Your Arnova is made by SkyTC.
If you have aquestion about the official firmware you should post it in the SkyTC forum.
If you have something about the listenlive firmware (which you have) then you can post it in the Listenlive development forum.

i would be pleased for a better wakeup alarm control... like it was promised by archos but never worked: wake up with a internet-radio-stream selected from the favorite-list... that would be a dream.

I have no idea what Arnova promised.
Anyway, as an alarm sound you can use a pre-defined sound, the FM radio or an Internet Radio stream.
When using a Radio stream as Alarm sound, it will use the last played stream when setting the alarm.
This means you can set different streams for alarm 1 and 2 and use a different stream also for the sleep timer.

another feature... the repeat-button does not work on firmware ver 1.43 on my kmp511.2.1 rm003... despite remote is set extended
so that a podcast is repeated once, althoug there are more then one pods in the cast

The repeat button can be used to select repeat and shuffle when using the media player.
There is no function attached to the button when playing any kind of radio streams (including podcasts).
Why would you need a repeat on podcast?

the arrows in the down right screen looking nice, but they seems having no function...

The arrows are the repeat and shuffle function. They work and light up when you use the repeat function in the media player.

Please note that the firmware is developed based on the wishes of the users.
If you have suggestions then just post in the listenlive firmware development forum. There is a post that will show bugs found on the latest (1.43) firmware and also it shows fixes and new things that have been added.
Make sure you explain how/what and why.

Nice to see this thread for all wonderful wish list items, just want to propose one more - currently when listing directories via UPnP it displays only the first 100 items from any directory on the server. If the list has thousands of files, it just times out and displays "No File".

Is it just an issue with my upnp/dlna server and box combination? If it is common it will be great if it is possible to fix that in a future firmware, since I think many of us who are using NAS or other storage on the network have GBs of music in thousands of files.

Hello, I have a unit of Watson. With the original firmware the CD title and song titles displayed on the display. Since I use the firmware from 2.x this information will not be displayed.   Is it possible to enable this useful feature back? This was useful for the copy to SD / USB.

Hi, Im new to the forum & I just purchased a Cobra CIR2000A which Im guessing is a Penbrex made radio & can be updated with the modified firmware KW-1004 version 2.0.0.18.

I find this radio very similar to the Grace except it has more options. Anyway, is there a way to get AAC (AAC+) enabled on the Cobra (Penbrex) radio?

Im in the US, I find there are many stations missing from the listing, if I want say WFAN660 in New York, would the radio be able to find it?

Hello,

I think Penbex claims the hardware is not fast enough to play AAC/AAC+ streams.

I added WFAN660 to the New York listing. If your cobra uses the modified firmware which uses our database then it should work.

unfortunately the volume control is not very fine, on the lowest level the volume is still much too high, its impossible to fall asleep

second, the title of the songs played via INet will not be updated, its always stacked on the first song played...

and, is there any possibility to change the backgrounds with others ?

In the new firmware you will have better control of volume and brightness. More than the original and as much as the hardware allows. We will see if that is enough.

Title names is something that should be ok and can be fixed if not. No problem there.

At the moment it is not possible to change the backgrounds in the new firmware. The images have all been changed and the whole experience is different.
If there is a need for it I could easily add this later on.

hi there...

i have the SkyTC (Xoro HMT 350) with your newest 1.89p FW, ... 'til now all's working fine for me, thank you very much for your work...
Now to my wishes: when im goin to sleep i'm used to hear a little bit music...

unfortunately the volume control is not very fine, on the lowest level the volume is still much too high, its impossible to fall asleep

second, the title of the songs played via INet will not be updated, its always stacked on the first song played...

it would be fine if this could be fixed

Thank you one more time, greetings from Germany

Thanks for the update.

I am really looking forward to a rejigged radio with the new firmware.  The brightness alone, and of course working UPNP which was the main reason I purchased the unit for.  The current limitation on the UPNP stuff stops me using it....

Let me know if you need test candidates,  I run an OTEK 510 currently with your modified firmware

  • ability for private ipadress in Internet TV favorites list ( viewing in home webcam)
  • power saving mode (display dimmed)
  • easy way returning  to display actual playing station after time of inactivity. Now you have to reselect the station for restoring station display

Hi Irene, I think this is related to a SkyTC (Arnova/Xoro/etc etc) type of device and not for a Penbex device since the Penbex radios dont do TV.

    - Anyway, you can already do private IP's with the modified firmware.
Just add a station as "private" and point to a home IP address.
This station will then be added to your "My Favorites"  list and are only visible to yourself. Not to any other users. Note that you must select that you have a SkyTC device under your user settings in order to use the "My Favorites"  on your device.

    - Power saving is available in the upcoming firmware.
    - The returning option is not finished yet but will be available.

    BR,
    William

It would be great to set to volume for the alarm individually (e.g. current setting of the volume) instead of choicing only 1 (low), 2 (middle) and 3 (loud).

Further when listening to audiobooks it is really annoying that the last 1-3 seconds of a title will not be played, because the next title is starting (fade function).

Thank you very much for your kind reply. I'll give it a try; it will be quite a challenge for me!

This is actually possible already with modified firmware. Not by USB stick but by placing the file on an Internet location.

Lets say you have a weekly or daily podcast show. You make some script that will grab every day the latest url to this show and put it inside a text file automatically (you need to follow some formatting rules, can contact me if you need to). You then put this file at a place it can be reached over the Internet (I could host everything if needed) Once it is there you can use this site to make a permanent link to this file. Then the Penbex device will have 1 link like "Bob's Music Corner daily Podcast show" and it will always take the latest podcast.

I know this is a bit of a work around but after setting it up it works without further changes.

Could http://www.podspew.com/ make things easier? PodSpew converts podcasts into streamable .M3U files that you can play immediately.

I have a Penbex box with  recording capability. Of course it should be possible to have the url of a webstation in a simple dat-text file on the usb stick. Then the device would read it and start streaming. In that way it would very simple to test and change the station and see if you like it. It should be the same principle for podcats, both for a single download and regularly updated downloads. It could be a simple Windows front end editing the text file.

I understand this does not have high priority since most Penbex boxes don't have recording capability. But this is a wish list! It should be implemented by Penbex itself or as a feature in an enthusiast commercial Penbex box.

    - support more than 5000 songs with an UPNP (or DNLA) media server
    - .ogg support
    - on the WATSON-like-device: make the side-lights dimmable (or at least disable them)
    - FM-Radio RDS feature?

The possibility to have clock alarm for week and a different one for weekend.
with the option to start the volume at low and it increase slowly....

To redirect the Favorite to the penbex favorite or the add Penbex Favorite under Favorite in the main menu. (its more easy to access than navigate throught the different menu...)

Wish ListMarch 4, 2009 by penbex

So what are the things we would like to see added/changed/fixed..? (either through patches or even from Penbex themselves)

  • ability to sort the favorites list
  • add private radio stations to the station list,
  • alternative storage location for radio stations (USB/SD)
  • faster addition of stations at worldstation or alternative server(s)
  • rss news/weather info
  • better wakeup alarm control (beep.mp3/radio/iradio/usb/sd)
  • improve wifi reception
  • web access / setup through http/network
  • telnet access
  • backup/restore of settings
  • better dimmer control (percentage when working/sleeping)
  • Post your additions or comments..
