Topic: How to install firmware into your Radio

Yes, when you try to upgrade the firmware it should recognize the USB or SD card on which you put the firmware file. If it does not see it the stick/card is either not compatible or the formatting is not recognized.

Sorry Guys,

Apparently it was my USB key... it worked with another one... beware !!!

Hi,

I have a Neon N-1004, currently with firmware KW-1004-1.0.3.62 build 09/12/08-1744.
I am trying to upgrade to the new modified firmware KW-1004-2.0.0.15.upg.

I put the upgrade file on a FAT32 256 Mo USB stick. Plug it in the front USB, went in Settings / Firmware Upgrade / Yes.
Then it doesn't propose me anything, and gives me the following message "Upgrade File not found", this if I have network unglugged.
If I have the network, I have a square showing me "ONLINE" & "Load...", but I cannot select "Load..."

Am I doing something wrong ? Could I please get your help.

Thanks & regards
Fab

To install (new) firmware you have to take the following steps:

  • Copy the "KW-1004-1.0.3.62.upg" (or any other valid firmware file that ends on .upg) from your computer to a USB stick or SD card.
  • Connect the USB stick/SD card to you radio.
  • In the menu of your radio, choose "Settings" and then "Firmware-Upgrade". Then select the device type (USB-stick / SD card) on which you placed the firmware file.
  • The radio will now check the file and load the contents into its flash memory. This process will take a few minutes to complete. Once its done the radio will reboot into the new firmware.

    Thats all.

If your radio is not functioning properly you can not load a new firmware with the above procedure. In that case you can use the procedure to load firmware into a crashed radio. Read about it here.
